If you follow along on Instagram stories, you know I love doing online polls because it allows me to learn more about you and my audience. A couple of weeks ago, I asked who makes their bed every morning? It was split almost 50/50, which actually surprised me. I was anticipating very few saying they did not, so I loved finding out that many of you did. If you’re someone who already makes your bed, give yourself a pat on the back and read this for a reminder of those feel-good vibes and if you’re someone who doesn’t, this post is to convince you that this simple and easy task will be life-changing and make you feel better each and everyday!
Naval Admiral William McRaven, the commander of U.S. Special Operations, said:
“If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another.
By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that little things in life matter.”
I know there are many people out there who have plenty of excuses as to why they should even bother making it. I know we have all thought it, myself included, but I’m here to convince you that you should switch that mindset and make your bed everyday because it truly sets the tone for the rest of your day!
- You’ll feel accomplished and have a sense of pride
- Your room will be cleaner
- You’ll be more productive
- Helps develop good habits
- It just looks and feels better
So next time you think, I don’t want to or it doesn’t matter, no one is going to see it…remember that how you start your morning, sets the tone for the rest of the day. So take those couple of minutes and make your bed each morning, it may surprise you at how much better you feel!
