Yesterday we kicked off Styling for the Holidays and covered everything wreaths. (If you missed that post, you can check it out here.) So today we are ready to add our next detail and layer to your front door…DOORMATS! This is another way to give off a great first impression and bring your style/humor to the outside of your home and will leave you and your guests with happy feet!
Whether you are looking for a holiday, winter or funny doormat or are wondering how to pair a wreath/doormat/rug together…I have you covered below!
Step 1: Pick out a doormat
You can either pick out a doormat and then compliment it with a wreath OR you can pick a wreath and then compliment it with a doormat. You can’t go wrong either way, you just want to make sure they vibe together. 🙂 Below I have pulled a variety of holiday, winter and funny doormats together and I’m not going to lie you guys, I want ALL of these doormats and thinking maybe I should just do 25 days of doormats! 😉 With all of these rugs, I can guarantee they would make you smile every time you walked up to your door and your guests will totally comment on them! That’s a win-win if you ask me!
Below are some of my favorite holiday, winter and funny doormats!

Step 2: Combine and Layer
Now that I have introduced wreaths and doormats, it is time to start pairing them together and even maybe taking it a step further and adding a rug underneath your doormat. Below I have shown you a couple examples of how you can mix and match the wreath, doormats and rugs together.
As far as a rug to layer with, you are going to want to look for one that is going to be around 3′ x 5′. All of the rugs I have shared are around 18-24″ wide by 30-32″ long, meaning a rug that is 2’X3′, will not layer proportionately underneath your doormat. Another thing to consider is: if your front door is not well covered and gets a lot of rain/snow, I would probably not layer a rug underneath of your doormat, as it will just end up getting ruined and isn’t worth the money. BUT if your area is well covered, I would TOTALLY go for it and look into getting a rug that you can use all year long. This is one thing I have yet to add to my front porch and I think I might just have to add one this holiday season.
Below are how I paired a wreath/doormat/rug together:

What do you guys think of the combinations above? Which is your favorite or which would you choose for your front door? I honestly love them all, but if I had to choose just one I would go with Row #2! 🙂
Step 3: Time to Decorate
I would love to see how you have added a wreath/doormat/rug combo to your front door and you know I love a good shoe/doormat photo. So please share on social media and tag @kelseyhargens or use the hashtag #kelsified for a chance to be featured.
Stay tuned for Part 3 tomorrow where we will be adding in a special touches that will give your door that extra wow factor!
