Every year I think we all look forward to the Girl Scouts selling their boxes of cookies either door to door or at your local grocery store/shop and we all have that go to cookie that we must have every.single.year. Well, the Samoas are that cookie to me and last year I purchased a box of them here, immediately opened them up (DUH!), took a bite and literally was the WHAT THE HELL!?! These taste nothing like the ones I grew up on. So I mentioned it so someone I worked with and she filled me in that there is in fact two different Girl Scout bakeries (Little Brownie Bakers &ABC Bakers) and the Carmel deLites are in fact not the same as Samoas.
So here we are again this year and I of course, am telling this story to my coworkers and they were like NO WAY. So what do you do to prove to them they are missing out…you have your mom mail you a couple boxes from Iowa and let them be the judge. 🙂 And who do you think was right!?!?! 🙂
Below you can see the difference…
So not only did we have a taste test of the different cookies, I also made these Samoa inspired cheesecake bars that start with an oreo crust then a cheesecake layer and are finally topped off with caramel, toasted coconut and chocolate…holy crap these are ooey-gooey good!
So no matter where you live, you can make these Samoa Cheesecake bars and I can guarantee there will be no discrepancies! 🙂
